What is R.A.D. ?
The Rape Aggression Defense Basic Personal Defense Systems a realistic self-defense course for women. Women of all ages, levels of ability, experience, and strength will be provided with techniques and information on basic self-defense and personal safety. The R.A.D. system is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, risk reduction, risk avoidance and includes physical training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program.
Our Instructors
All courses are taught by members of UBC Okanagan Campus Security Department, and are nationally certified R.A.D. instructors.
Why R.A.D. ?
The R.A.D. system will provide students with the knowledge to make an educated decision about personal defense. We provided information on physical and non-physical options, as well as insight into the aggressor mindset.
The Course
- The course if formatted into 2 hours of classroom discussion, and 6 hours of practical training, including tactics and self-defense techniques.
- The course if free to all UBC faculty, staff, and students. Classes are limited to 10 participants to ensure a good student to instructor ratio. This also ensures everyone has ample opportunity to practice with the equipment provided.
- Participants may choose non-participation at any time, for any reason
